| Opening days and times of demonstration: Wednesday and Saturday Demonstrations: 10:45 am, 1:45 pm and 3:45 pm Measuring 325 sqm, our 0-gauge model railway layout ranks among the largest of its kind, even on an international level. It comprises over 140 vehicles, 625 m of rails, 5 stations and an integrated narrow-gauge railway. The 26 locomotives and 115 coaches are, for the most part, former trade fair models or individual constructions. Due to their solid designs they have a high dead weight, which, however, causes considerable wear and tear during operation. After more than 25 years of operation, the layout had to be refurbished entirely in 1996. There was need for fundumental reconstruction because of malfunctions as a result of the overaged control and the wear and tear of vehicles and rails. So now, a computerized control and electronically stabilized traction current supply together with refurbished rails and vehicles meet the requirements of a modern model railway layout of this category. Unfortunately, a daily operation the whole year round is not possible on the sensitive and high-maintanence layout. |
