The opening of the first German long-distance railway line from Dresden to Leipzig on 7 April 1838 marked an important milestone in the history of German transportation. Eleven sections vividly illustrate the history of the construction and operation of the Leipzig-Dresden railway. Special focus is placed on the feelings, expectations, euphoria and even skepticism people felt in relation to this new means of transport.
An exciting air journey will lead you through 200 years of aviation history, from the first balloon oyages in the 18th century to modern airlines.
It shows primarily automobiles from Saxony and Thuringia, presents bicycle and motorcycles history and illustrates the development of commercial vehicles.
The navigation exhibition in the “Langer Gang” colonnade takes you on a great journey from the Elbe river to the seas.
The exhibition presents stages of Saxon and German railway history from the beginnings to 1993, showing valuable originals and models.
