The opening of the Leipzig-Dresden railway on 7 April 1839 symbolized the birth of long-distance transport in Germany. 175 years later a festivalweek will remind of this event. A ride from Leipzig to Dresden along the historical route marks the beginning of the festival week (7 April). On 8 April the Dresden Transport Museum will open the special exhibition “Germany becomes mobile”. The festival will end with the 6. steam locomotive-convention (11 to 13 April) steam locomotive-convention (11 to 13 April).
An exciting air journey will lead you through 200 years of aviation history.
It shows primarily automobiles from Saxony and Thuringia, presents bicycle and motorcycles history and illustrates the development of commercial vehicles.
The navigation exhibition in the “Langer Gang” colonnade takes you on a great journey from the Elbe river to the seas.
The exhibition presents stages of Saxon and German railway history from the beginnings to 1993, showing valuable originals and models.
